Unsatisfied with 10+ home run for 2 consecutive years, KIA 4th hitter dream tree “This year’s goal is 100 RBIs

Hwang Dae-in (27) of the KIA Tigers expressed his ambition to achieve 100 RBIs this season.

On the 7th (Korean time), Hwang 메이저놀이터 Dae-in completed extra batting training at the spring camp held at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Hwang Dae-in, who fired an intense batted ball, raised expectations by shooting a large batted ball that went over the fence.

Hwang Dae-in, who said, “I think the feeling of hitting is good now,” said, “It is still in the stage of revision, so it will take a while to fully rise. He tries to keep his swing short and hit the ball farther toward the center. I think we need to focus on preparing for the part that changed the batting form during this Gamp period,” he said about the preparation process for spring camp.

Hwang Dae-in said, “I am now a 9-year-old player. In the meantime, there has been a lack of long-flying batted balls in the direction of center and right field. I thought that in order to increase home run production, I needed to be able to pass through the center as well as push through. I heard a lot of advice and am preparing in Arizona,” explaining the change in this spring camp.

Hwang Dae-in, who recorded a batting average of .256 (122 hits in 476 at-bats) in 129 games last season, 14 homers, 91 RBIs, and an OPS of .716, surpassed 10 home runs for the second consecutive year. However, his slugging percentage (.401) was the lowest in the last 3 seasons, leaving a disappointment.

Hwang Dae-in, who said, “I’m very sorry” about his performance last year, said, “Honestly, I didn’t get that good results. It’s very sad and I want to go up step by step. 2022 is better than 2021, and 2023 is better than 2022,” he said, expressing his will to achieve better results.

KIA recruited Byun Woo-hyuk from Hanwha through a trade in November of last year. Byun Woo-hyeok, who has potential as a corner infielder and big hitter, is a competitor who can compete with Hwang Dae-in for a position. Hwang Dae-in said, “Of course, I am motivated. I am not yet a key player for KIA. I think it is natural to compete for positions. I think there will be a good synergistic effect for me in that area,” he said, saying he would overcome competition for positions.

Hwang Dae-in, who received a chance as the fourth hitter last season, did not produce satisfactory results. However, the number 4 hitter is still an honorable position for Hwang Dae-in that he really wants to step up. Hwang Dae-in said, “I am proud to say that I am the 4th hitter of the prestigious KIA. Of course, I want to go out as the 4th hitter. It seems to be up to me now. If I do well, I will of course be the number 4 hitter, and if I don’t, I won’t be able to play. No wonder. It’s important that I do well,” he said about the meaning of hitting number 4.

Hwang Dae-in, who said about his goal for this season, “What I think about every year is RBI,” said, “The more RBIs, the more the team scores, and my personal record naturally follows. The goal I set last year was 80 RBIs, but I exceeded the goal. Now, I want to set my dream goal of 100 RBIs. The dream of all mid- and long-distance hitters is 100 RBIs. I will work harder to prepare for 100 RBIs this year. It seems to be an off-season that I thought about more than any other year. Now, I will try to make better results this year than the year before and last year.”
