“Im Myung-ok, sister”

On the 10th, the ‘Dodram 2022-23 Season V-League Awards Ceremony’ was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan. 

A total of 14 clubs, 7 clubs each for men and women, participated in the awards ceremony, which awards the best volleyball players who have shined this season. Awards include Achievement Award, Referee Award, Fair Play Award, Supervisor Award, Best 7 Men’s and Women’s Division, Rookie of the Year Award, Men’s and Women’s Regular League MVP. 

The honor of the rookie award, which can only be received once in a lifetime, was given to KGC Ginseng Corporation Choi Hyo-seo (Libero) and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Kim Jun-woo (middle blocker), who showed impressive performances as an unconventional selection from the beginning of this season. 

Choi Hyo-seo received 17 votes out of 31 (Choi Hyo-seo 17 votes, Park Eun-ji 8 votes, Lee Min-seo 6 votes), and Kim Jun-woo 18 votes (Kim Jun-woo 18 votes, Lee Hyeon-seung 13 votes).

Choi Hyo-seo, who was nominated by Ginseng Corporation in the 6th place of the 2nd round of the 2022-23 season rookie draft, made his professional debut on October 26 last year by starting against IBK Industrial Bank. Choi Hyo-seo, who has been active as a main player from the beginning of his debut due to the injury of the main player Libero Yellow, was selected as an All-Star this season by showing decent defensive skills. With Park Eun-ji, a rookie setter on the same team, and 

Kim Jun-woo, from Hongik University, with good intentions and Hongik University, wore the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance uniform in the 3rd place in the 1st round of the 2022-23 season. He played as a starting pitcher at the beginning of the season, and since then he has shown consistent compliance (played in 35 games, accumulated 203 points) and competed for the Rookie of the Year title with Hyundai Capital rookie setter Lee Hyeon-seung.

1. How do you feel?
I didn’t expect to receive an award like this. I am very happy to have been given many opportunities. I came in at the beginning, but I didn’t get into the game that much in the second half, but I’m grateful for the award. 

2. What was the most memorable game you played this season?
The first game after starting the season, the IBK Industrial Bank match, is the most memorable. It was also the first game I participated in, and it was the first game I played with my sister on the opposing team. 

3. There are many great seniors in the league. Who is your role model?
Im Myung-ok (Korea Expressway Corporation) tries to learn from watching her older sister. In my opinion, receiving is the most difficult, but Lim Myung-ok unnie seems to be comfortable with receiving, so she wants to emulate that.  

4. You said there were many difficult moments. How did you manage your mind control? What moment was the most difficult?
I came out as a starter in the beginning, but it didn’t go well, so the older sisters were put in, but I couldn’t think ‘I can do it’, so that was the hardest part. To overcome that, I trained more and practiced receiving a lot at night. 

5. The Rookie of the Year competition was called a ‘family fight’, did you share anything?  
I didn’t talk well about the Rookie of the Year. During the season, we talked about trying to help each other more, doing everything we could in this season and coming out, and that we should work harder after this season so that we can enter more next season.

1. Impressions
I finished the season well and received such a good award, so I think I spent my first professional season as the best season. 

2. I played a lot of games, but the team’s performance was better for Lee Hyun-seung’s team, Hyundai Capital. How much did you expect your award to be?
I was expecting half and half. 

3. In what ways did you appeal more?
I think showing more improvement as the rounds went by helped me win the award.

4. Shin Young-seok, who delivered the bouquet at the time of the award, is a great senior and a great middle blocker. How did he feel when he received the bouquet?
I met him briefly before the awards ceremony, and he said that it would be nice if a middle blocker would receive it after a long time. It’s an honor to come up to pick up a bouquet of flowers in person, I will try to become a player like senior Shin Young-seok. 

5. You were a bit afraid of director Kim Sang-woo in the beginning, but are you more comfortable now? What if he has something to say to the director?
It seems to be a little more comfortable than the first. Still, I personally am not very satisfied. I want to work harder in the off-season and show a better side of myself next season.  메이저놀이터

6. You scored the most points (203) among rookies this season. Did you expect this result? What was the most disappointing thing?
I didn’t know that I would run so many matches. I scored more goals than I thought. However, I felt that I was very immature in the blocking or invisible room. I will try to improve that part and become a perfect player in many ways. 

7. Where do you plan to spend your first pro prize money (2 million won)?
I’m thinking of using it for the same team hyungs or team. (How much will you use?) About half.
