Korea, baseball ranking 4th → 5th ‘fall’… Japan’s 9th consecutive year ‘unchanging 1st place’
The world ranking of Korean baseball has been pushed down a notch.
On the 28th (Korean time), the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) released the world baseball rankings reflecting the WBC results.
Korea had a goal of advancing to the semifinals for the first time in 14 years at the WBC. However, they suffered shock losses to Australia and Japan, who were in the same group, and were eliminated in the first round with 2 wins and 2 losses.
Korea, which stayed in 3rd place in Group B, was given 621 ranking points, and as of December 31 last year, it fell one notch from 4th to 5th.
Korean baseball has been on a steady downward curve since December 2021. In the ranking announced at the time, it was pushed from 3rd to 4th. Here, even in this announcement, the fall was not avoided.
Meanwhile, 1,150 ranking points went to the WBC champion, Japan, and 953 points to the runner-up, the United States.
Japan maintained its world No. 1 position (5,323 points) this time as well. From 2014 to the present, Japan has not come down from number one in the world rankings for nine years. 안전놀이터
