Jerry defeats Dmitrov to win Geneva Open
Nicolas Jerry (27, Chile, World No. 35) has won the Geneva Open on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour.
Jerry defeated Grigor Dimitrov (32, Bulgaria, World No. 33) 2-0 (7-6<7-1> 6-1) in the singles final of the ATP Tour 250 Series Geneva Open in Geneva, Switzerland, on 27 July.
In the quarter-finals, Jerry upset the tournament’s top seed, Kasper Rood (24, Norway, World No. 4), 2-1 (3-6 7-6<7-2> 7-5). In the semi-finals, he defeated Alexander Tsverev (26, Germany, World No. 27) with a first-set tiebreak to reach the final.메이저사이트
Facing Dmitrov, Jerry took the first set in a tiebreaker. With the momentum in his favour, he cruised to an easy second set to lift the trophy.
It was Jerry’s third career Tour title. He reached the top of the rankings in March at Chileopen, but only on clay courts.
Earlier in the day, Artur Fischer (19, France, World No. 63) defeated Francisco Cerundolo (24, Argentina, World No. 23) 2-0 (6-3 7-5) in the final of the ATP Tour 250 Series Lyon Open in Lyon, France.
One of France’s brightest prospects, Peace was runner-up in the junior singles event at the 2021 French Open. He won his first ATP Tour title at the Lyon Open on home soil.
