Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall), a representative of modern pentathlon in Korea, who won gold medals and silver medals in the individual event in two World Cup competitions, returned home in gold.

Jeon Woong-tae returned home yesterday (2nd) afternoon through Incheon International Airport after participating in the 2nd and 3rd World Cup competitions of the International Modern Pentathlon (UIPM).

Jeon Woong-tae met with reporters at the airport and said, “I’m happy that the season started very well.”

This season’s modern pentathlon World Cup has a fourth round to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria next week, but Jeon Woong-tae returned to Korea to focus on preparing for the World Cup finals scheduled for early next month in Ankara.

Jeon Woong-tae explained, “If you win the World Cup Finals, you can get the right to participate in the Paris Olympics.”

He also revealed his goal for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, which will be held in September. Jeon Woong-tae said, “The Asian Games come once every four years, so I think it’s important.”
