From SON best friend to KIM colleague…Munich makes progress in talks with Walker → Tuchel’s presence a big driving force
Bayern Munich appears to be making progress on the signing of Kyle Walker.
Britain’s ‘Sky Sports’ reported on the 20th (KST), “Munich’s negotiations to sign Walker have now progressed. Walker has just one year left on his contract at Manchester City. The presence of Thomas Tuchel, who is currently in charge of Munich and was previously in charge of Chelsea, is a major factor in persuading Walker to join the Bavarians.”
Walker played for Tottenham Hotspur for nearly eight years, starting in 2009. Initially, he was sent out on loan to Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers to gain experience, but it wasn’t until the 2011-12 season that he really started to get his chance with Spurs. He made 37 appearances in the English Premier League (EPL).메이저놀이터
He then became a regular starter. He was a consistent starter except for a 100-day absence at the beginning of the 2014-15 season as he recovered from surgery. When Son joined Tottenham in 2015, they briefly teamed up. In particular, the two players showed a “great chemistry” on the field, as well as in team training and off the field.
This led to interest from Man City. Looking to bolster their right-back defense, they paid £50 million for Walker. Since joining City, Walker has continued to get playing time. Whether it’s competing for a spot alongside N’Golo Kante or being used as a right-back in a back three, he’s been a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.
This season hasn’t been any different. Now 33 years old, he needs to take care of his fitness. Walker played 27 games in the EPL and five games in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). However, his final game of the season left something to be desired. Walker didn’t start the UCL final against Inter Milan behind Akanji.
However, he came on as a late substitute. City went on to win the UCL title and complete the long-awaited triple with the EPL and FA Cup. Walker was happy to celebrate with his teammates after missing the starting lineup.
This is where the Munich transfer rumors came in. Walker only has one year left on his contract at City. A move is not out of the question. For now, negotiations with Munich seem to be going well. They want Walker as a replacement for Benjamin Pavard, who could leave this summer.
For now, the Bavarians are looking to add to their defense. At the center of that is Kim Min-jae. The plan is to use him in the center back position alongside Mathias De Ligt and Dayot Upamecano. Walker could also be utilized in the back three. With Fabregas and even Luca Hernandez available for transfer, both Kim and Walker could join the squad.
