‘Former colleague Shin-soo Choo’ Andrews achieved 2,000 hits in his career… MLB No. 290

Elvis Andrews (35), a colleague of Choo Shin-soo, recorded 2,000 hits in his MLB career.

Andrews started as the ninth batter and second baseman in the 2023 MLB regular season match against the San Francisco Giants held at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois, USA on the 6th (Korean time), and at the end of the 5th inning, opponent starting pitcher Logan He hit Webb’s sinker and hit a hit that grazed the side of the second baseman.

The hit was Andrews’ 2000th career hit. Andrews, who debuted with the Texas Rangers in 2009, hit triple-digit hits from his debut season, and then scored more than 100 hits in all except for the 2020 season, when a mini-season (60 games per team) was played due to corona issues. After the game against the Houston Astros on the 1st, he faltered, going hitless in three consecutive games, but eventually achieved a great record. In MLB, the 290th player to reach 2000 hits came out. Miguel Cabrera (3090), Joey Votto (2093), and Nelson Cruz (2018, more than 5 days) are the only active players with more hits.

Andrews’ 2000 hit commemorative ball will be given to his mother, Elvia. The 500th, 1000th, and 1500th were all like that. Andrews said, “My mother is the reason I’m here. Every hit counts. It counts for me and my family and everyone who has helped me in my career.”  안전놀이터

‘Contact hitter’ Andrews had his heyday by hitting 20 homers in the 2017 season. It was the time when Choo Shin-soo and Texas were leading the lineup. He also hit 17 last season. He is now just four shy of his 100th career home run.
