“Daejeon~ I sing for you”…supporters’ ordinance?
I’m Kim Hyun-soo with ‘News Plus,’ a time to add depth to the news.
The U-20 World Cup concluded today.
The Korean national team made it to the quarterfinals for the second time in a row, showing a bright future for Korean soccer.
In addition, public interest in professional soccer has increased.
In fact, the number of spectators at K League stadiums this year was record-breaking.
In the first division, the cumulative attendance exceeded 1 million for the first four days of the season.
This is the fastest time to reach 1 million spectators in the last 10 years.스포츠토토
In particular, Daejeon Hana Citizens, which was promoted to the 1st Division this year, is also mobilizing a large number of spectators for each game.
So far, they have averaged over 13,000 fans per game, ranking third in the K League 1.
In fact, every game, Daejeon soccer fans cheer and fill the stadium.
In April, we played against Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Even though it was an away game, the cheers for Daejeon Hana Citizen were so loud that it felt like a home game.
Recently, the Daejeon Hana Citizen’s games have been attended by fans at home and away.
Daejeon Hana Citizen’s propaganda is also welcomed by the city of Daejeon, which said, “The special soccer city has returned.”
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo has also been making frequent appearances at Daejeon Hana Citizen’s matches.
He has even announced his attendance for next Saturday’s away game against Jeju, scheduled for the 24th.
Last week, the expanded caucus said, “We need to help professional soccer and baseball become the pride of Daejeon,” and instructed the city to consider enacting an ordinance to support supporters of professional soccer and baseball.
Since it is impossible for a local government to support a team run by a company, this is an attempt to establish a basis for support by enacting an ordinance.
The city of Daejeon said it is currently reviewing the details.
Supporters have welcomed the news.
[Kwon Hyuk-min / Chairman of the Daejeon Hana Citizen supporters ‘Daejeon Lovers’: “Mayor (Jang-woo) Lee asked us what we need in terms of supporters (activities) and what we had difficulties with while traveling to Daejeon Hana Citizen matches, so I’m grateful that he cares so much. The ordinance has been enacted so that fans can come to the stadium a little more comfortably….”]
So what do Daejeon Hana Citizen fans hope for?
First of all, fans are divided over Mayor Lee Jang-woo’s visits to the stadium so far.
“Before the corporate takeover, the club was constantly used by politicians and then abandoned, and I was very angry to see him (Lee Jang-woo) pretending to be the owner,” the fan community wrote.
“Citizen is doing well now, and there must be a lot of things the local government can do to support them, so let’s not criticize them too much and wait a bit,” another wrote.
But the voices of supporters and fans intersect at exactly one point.
[Kwon Hyuk-min / Chairman of Daejeon Hana Citizen Supporters’ ‘Daejeon Bus’: “It’s a problem because we recently moved up to the first division and our performance is good, so the number of fans is increasing. ‘The seats are a little uncomfortable, why is it so hard to park,’ It’s a problem about basic infrastructure, so this part is a little difficult, but I hope we can improve it.”]
At the end of the day, supporters are not talking about the big things that need to be done to enact a bylaw, but the things that can be done now, even without a bylaw, to improve the infrastructure of the stadium so that soccer fans can cheer without feeling uncomfortable.
Daejeon soccer fans are pointing out that these long-standing issues of inadequate parking and uncomfortable seating are being ignored.
