In the second minute of the first half, Daejeon had the decisive chance. Leandro, who was driving the ball in from the left flank during a counter-attack, gave the ball away to Masa, who was running towards the centre of the box. Massa’s low, quick shot was blocked by a super-save from the goalkeeper.
In the 35th minute, Daejeon took the lead. Joo Se-jong fired a mid-range shot at Hoesim, but the ball went over the bar.
The first goal came from Incheon. In the 38th minute, Lee Myung-joo’s left foot collided with Daejeon midfielder Joo Se-jong’s foot, earning a penalty kick. Mpoku stepped up to take the kick and converted.
Three minutes into the second half, Incheon added another goal. Mpoku shook off two Daejeon players near the halfway line and passed the ball to Kim Bo-seop on the left. Kim had a one-on-one chance with the keeper and calmly finished to score.
In the 11th minute of the second half, Daejeon pushed for an equaliser. Thiago saw a cross from the right deflected and immediately got his head to the ball, but it was straight at the goalkeeper.
Daejeon trailed by one goal. Thiago took advantage of a free kick situation in the 14th minute of the second half to score a header.
However, Incheon did not falter. Instead, they scored a wedge goal in the 32nd minute. Mpoku, who was in front of the arc, was not greedy and gave a ‘no-look pass’ to Kim Bo-seop on the left. Kim, who had scored the first goal, completed his multi-goal performance.
Daejeon, who were busy chasing, lost Lee Hyun-sik, who came on for Joo Se-jong in the 30th minute of the second half, to an accumulation of cautions in stoppage time.
The game ended as it was. Incheon secured the win to start their climb out of the relegation zone.
